NAIROBI, Kenya, March 31, 2026/APO Group/ —

  • AHIC will be Africa’s collective voice of capital committed to sustainable hospitality investment
  • AHIC will operate as an independent body within the EEA framework
  • The EEA will provide the legal, governance, and operational foundation that ensures AHIC’s international credibility and compliance with global standards

Today at the FHS Nairobi (www.FutureHospitality.com/Africa) the Africa Hospitality Investors Council (AHIC), announced its creation and launch. AHIC will operate as an independent body within the EEA framework, governed by its own dedicated Board but powered by the EEA.

AHIC aims to be Africa’s collective voice of capital committed to sustainable hospitality investment, ensuring Africa’s hospitality sector has a visible and credible presence in global investment dialogues. AHIC will contribute a coordinated investor perspective to policy and market dialogue, improving the conditions for long-term investment, strengthening market confidence and supporting sustained economic value creation.

AHIC’s mission in the fast-growing African hospitality sector is to help build the foundations for sustainable, bankable, and scalable growth by unlocking a deeper pipeline of projects as attractive investment opportunities across the continent – for Africa, by Africa.

With EEA, which comprises 50,000 hotel assets with a global footprint at an approximate value of US$400bn, AHIC will coordinate engagement directly between ministries of finance, planning, infrastructure, tourism, trade and investment, and investors in Africa’s hospitality sector.

The EEA provides the legal, governance, and operational foundation that ensures AHIC’s international credibility and compliance with global standards, while safeguarding its regional autonomy. Through the EEA Capital Markets Committee, AHIC will help shape how sustainability, transition risk, and resilience are priced in African hospitality portfolios.

Africa’s hotel and lodging sector is positioned for substantial growth, supported by powerful demographic trends and rising demand for quality tourism and hospitality assets, yet faces a number of issues such as fragmented regulatory frameworks, uneven risk–return visibility, gaps in infrastructure provision, and limited transparency and disclosure standards.

AHIC’s mandate is to strengthen Africa’s position within global capital allocation by:

  • Aligning investor perspectives with national and regional priorities for trade, tourism and economic growth, strengthening clarity on where and how capital can be deployed.
  • Informing policy and regulatory frameworks through coordinated market insight, reflecting the realities of investment, development and operations across African markets.
  • Advancing transparency, comparability and governance standards, enabling more consistent assessment of risk and strengthening investor confidence
  • Supporting cross-border alignment of investment conditions, engaging with the African Union and Regional Economic Communities, including SADC, COMESA, AND ECOWAS to reduce fragmentation and improve market coherence

Hospitality assets form part of Africa’s export and trade architecture and considered economic infrastructure. They generate foreign exchange, enable mobility, activate local supply chains and create employment at scale. As one of the largest employers in the region and a significant source of revenue for national economies, the hospitality sector is key to Africa’s successful development. AHIC is committed to ensuring its investments benefit all segments across the local hospitality value chain. This includes AHIC working with its members to deliver low-carbon buildings, enhancing the motivation, benefits and training for all employees, reducing consumption of energy, water and resources, and the efficient management of waste. AHIC is dedicated to supporting the development of local talent and positively impacting job creation with quality job opportunities, helping to transform lives of local communities.

AHIC will aim to deliver four strategic outcomes:

  • Mobilise African and global capital through a coordinated investor voice.
  • Influence government policy to unlock investable projects.
  • De-risk capital deployment across the hotel value chain in Africa.
  • Strengthen transparency, disclosure, and procurement systems.

AHIC’s founding members are:

  • Mossadeck Bally, Azalai Hotels Group
  • Kamal Bensouda, Atlas Hospitality Group
  • Ewan Cameron, Westmont Hotel Group
  • Lara Dupre, Aichti Hotels
  • Hamza Farooqui, Millat Investments
  • Olivier Granet, Kasada Capital Management
  • Sophia Lopez Benhamida, RISMA
  • Paul Mack, Latitude Hotels
  • Julien Renaud, Onomo Hotels
  • Jameel Verjee, CityBlue Hotels
  • Graham Wood, V & A Waterfront

AHIC will be a permanent, investor-led council — coordinating private capital alongside sovereign wealth funds, development finance institutions and multilateral partners.

Rainforest Ecosystem

HAIKOU, CHINA – Media OutReach Newswire – 3 November 2026 – From Nov. 18 to 22, 2026, a global gathering dedicated to protecting the Earth’s “green lungs” will take place in Haikou, Hainan Province, China: the 2026 Tropical Rainforest Ecosystem Partners Conference.

From the vast Amazon rainforest to the dense forests of the Congo Basin and the diverse landscapes of the Malay Archipelago, representative rainforests from around the world will come together with the National Park of Hainan Tropical Rainforest for dialogue and exchange. Under the theme “Global Treasures · Shared Future,” the conference embodies humanity’s shared commitment to protecting rainforests and pursuing sustainable development.

Tropical rainforests cover less than one-tenth of the Earth’s land area, yet they are home to more than half of the world’s plant and animal species. Hainan, China’s only tropical island province, is home to the country’s largest, most concentrated and best-preserved contiguous tropical rainforest on a continental island. Established in 2021, the National Park of Hainan Tropical Rainforest covers more than 4,269 square kilometers and protects over 95 percent of Hainan Island’s primary forests. Its forest coverage rate remains stable at 95.9 percent, while both its water and air quality excellence rates stand at 100 percent.

Over the past five years, this rainforest has continued to witness remarkable ecological achievements. The Hainan gibbon population has grown to 44 individuals across seven groups, making it the only gibbon population in the world to have shown sustained growth.

In addition, 91 previously undocumented wild plant and animal species have been recorded in the park. An integrated space-air-ground ecological monitoring system now provides round-the-clock, comprehensive monitoring and protection of the rainforest ecosystem. The “Bawangling Model” for Hainan gibbon conservation has also been recognized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a global model for protecting rare species.

The conference will explore how forests can serve as reservoirs of water, sources of food, generators of economic value and carbon sinks. Two keynote forums and four parallel forums will be held, bringing together participants for in-depth discussions on key topics, including water conservation and aquatic ecological security, the sustainable use of forest food resources, ways to unlock the value of ecological products, and carbon management in rainforests. The discussions will foster exchanges of ideas and the sharing of experience.

The conference will also focus on Hainan’s efforts to seek dual World Heritage recognition for its natural and cultural heritage. It will bring together global expertise to support the nomination of the Hainan Tropical Rainforest and the Traditional Settlement of Li Ethnic Group for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a mixed natural and cultural heritage property. The initiative will explore new approaches to rainforest governance that uphold ecological protection as a firm priority while bringing tangible benefits to local communities.

In addition to the conference sessions, a series of supporting events will be held. “Rainforest Night,” a showcase of Hainan’s intangible cultural heritage, will offer an immersive audiovisual experience showcasing the distinctive traditions of the Li and Miao ethnic groups. The “Hidden Realms · Shared Life” Hainan Tropical Rainforest Photography Exhibition and the “Gifts of Nature” Ecological Products Market will showcase the rainforest’s natural beauty and innovative ways of turning ecological resources into tangible benefits. Field expeditions into the Hainan Tropical Rainforest, media tours, and the public-interest initiative “Breathe Deep in the Rainforest · Protect Our Shared Habitat” will take participants deep into the rainforest to experience the vitality of its ecosystems.

As the Hainan Free Trade Port approaches the first anniversary of the launch of island-wide special customs operations and the National Park of Hainan Tropical Rainforest marks its fifth anniversary, this conference will serve as China’s green calling card to the world and provide a platform for international dialogue and cooperation on rainforest conservation.

CEIF 2027 connects investors with Congo’s energy projects and local partners, while providing entry points for commercial opportunities across Central Africa

BRAZZAVILLE, Republic of the Congo, November 2, 2026/APO Group/ –The Republic of Congo’s expanding oil and gas developments are creating new opportunities for investment, engineering contracts and commercial partnerships across the energy value chain. With offshore discoveries, mature-field redevelopment and three million tons per year of LNG capacity, the country is entering a new phase of energy development that requires capital, technology and international partnerships.

The Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF) 2027, taking place June 1-3 in Brazzaville, will serve as the official platform connecting Central African energy decision-makers, operators, investors and service companies. Organized by Energy Capital & Power in collaboration with the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, the forum will bring together public- and private-sector stakeholders to advance investment discussions, facilitate partnerships and connect companies with emerging opportunities across the region.

Connect With Central Africa’s Energy Decision-Makers

CEIF 2027 will provide a platform to engage directly with Congolese authorities, regulators, national energy companies and policymakers shaping the region’s energy investment landscape. Taking place in partnership with the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, the event offers a bridge between the country’s policymakers and public- and private-sector companies. Conversations with decision-makers can help investors understand national development priorities, gain insight into the regulatory environment and identify opportunities for market entry or expansion.

Capitalize on Congo’s Upstream Investment and Production Ambitions

As Congo targets production growth toward 500,000 barrels per day, operators are pursuing new exploration and mature-field redevelopment to increase output. TotalEnergies’ 2026 Moho G discovery could unlock an estimated 100 million barrels of recoverable resources alongside the existing Moho F development, illustrating the potential to connect new discoveries to established offshore infrastructure. Meanwhile, Perenco and Trident Energy are pursuing development and redevelopment opportunities across mature assets, including well reactivation and infrastructure upgrades.

These activities could create opportunities for drilling contractors, engineering firms and production technology providers. CEIF 2027 offers a platform to explore project requirements and investment opportunities across Congo’s upstream sector.
